Accessibility

We want this site to work for everyone, including people using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, or browsing with motion reduced or text enlarged. This page says what we’ve built, what we’ve checked, and how to tell us when we’ve got it wrong.

What we build in

• Keyboard access.Every link, button and form field can be reached and used without a mouse, and the item you’re on is visibly outlined.
• A skip link. The first thing a keyboard user reaches jumps straight past the navigation to the page content.
• Described images.Photographs that carry meaning have text descriptions; purely decorative ones are hidden from screen readers so they don’t add noise.
• Structure a screen reader can follow. One main heading per page, headings in order, and proper page regions for the header, navigation, content and footer.
• Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, our animations stop — including the moving background on the homepage.
• Readable contrast. Text is checked against its background so it stays legible.

Where we stand

We build to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and check our work against them. We have nothad an independent accessibility audit, so we don’t claim formal conformance — we’d rather tell you what we actually know than post a badge we can’t stand behind. Accessibility is also not a one-off: every time we change the site, it’s something we can get wrong again.
